James is a Master of Music with a degree in Production from Berklee College of Music, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, composer, arranger, recording engineer, mixer, and producer from Portland, ME. He has spent the majority of his career based out of New England and NYC, where he also worked as a promoter, personal & tour manager, agent, studio manager, and publicist. Some of his activities have been featured in the New York Times, Village Voice, Downbeat, NPR, Wall Street Journal, Gawker, and Time Out.
As an International Relations undergrad at Brown, James also studied theory, transcription & analysis, and improvisation with Ed Tomassi and Dave Zinno; helped design music curricula; composed and traveled with big band; and played in rock, jazz, merengue, salsa, soul, hip hop, R&B, and electronic groups.
